Dark Dracs, Musical Cosmology and Alchemy
Folkloric Devilry is getting juicy and Robert Fludd is providing design inspiration
Folkloric Devilry
I have to say at this stage, I’m having the most fun I’ve ever had with the series in Folkloric Devilry. As this is the last book, it’s clear (to me at least!) what has to happen, and what needs wrapping up.
Old faces are returning, and it wouldn’t be a Folkloric book without Camille going through some kind of emotional trauma.
Let’s just say, the fact that Lucas turns into a revolting creature from the abyss has most definitely not been resolved in Camille’s head. Camille, it’s time you faced the facts, girl. This oh so handsome and yet terribly awful creature is not going away. Will she dare face the darkness?
Folkloric Guile Audio
It’s almost out! Hooray. Liz May Brice did an amazing job as always. My favourite character voice this time were the Bruxes (witchy creatures of chaos). It always astounds me how she can sound like ten different people in the space of a chapter. Anyway, watch this space, I’ll let you know when Audible has finished processing it.
What I’m Doing When I’m Not Working on Folkloric Devilry…
I’ve always done some kind of artwork on the side, though writing is my first love. So doing The Piano Tuner’s Song collector’s edition for Kickstarter is such a lovely project. When I’ve done enough writing or editing for one day, I can work on these.
The contemporary fantasy has a musical cosmology and features ancient esoteric lore, which means I have lots of source material to work with for the design.
For example I’ve used Robert Fludd’s old alchemical illustration to create black-on-white double paged spreads for the beginning of each part (the parts are titled, A E I O and U. The vowels are in a magical old song featured in the book). There’s still some work to do on these, but you can see what I’m up to…
What I’m also doing…
Uh, this… because a writer’s gotta have a break, right? The Dog and Rabbit Cafe might even rival Pyrenees’! It’s that friendly, and the cake is unbelievable.

The Piano Tuner’s Song Kickstarter Collector’s Edition
(Including Promo and Review Copies)
For those who don’t know, Kickstarter is a platform where authors (and other creatives) run limited time campaigns for amazing projects that make available beautiful special edition books.
If you love stunning books with sprayed edges, foiling and all the extras, it’s the best place for it. There are also lots of other creative projects on there too.
You can visit The Piano Tuner’s Song prelaunch page here and find out more about the collector’s edition I’m preparing. Click the ‘notify me on launch’ button to follow and get updates.
I’m doing an ARCs (free advanced reader ebook copies) of the collector’s edition for anyone who’d like to review on Amazon, Goodreads or other places, and also do a bit of promo, whether that be via word of mouth or socials.
Find out more and sign up here.
For those who have already signed up, thank you very much! I can’t wait to get the book to you. It will be my main goal once the audio for Guile is complete (a couple of weeks hopefully).
Audio Review Copies of the Folkloric Series…
Including Folkloric Guile
This is the last week I’ll have these available.
I’ll be sending vouchers out likely next week for books 1-4. Guile will follow shortly when Audible has approved it.

(Estimated release date and when the vouchers will be sent: late June)
If you’d like to listen and review any of the series, I have copies available on a first-come-first-served basis. (I only have a limited number of vouchers that Audible provides).
It’s not necessary to have listened to all the series on audio, you could dip in and out—read book one, listen to book two etc., but it’s a true series, so you’ll be missing out if you don’t read or listen in order.

Featured Kickstarters
I’m pretty new to the world of Kickstarter, but I’m loving that there’s so much creative freedom and the possibility for authors and artists to do their thing. As I come across some lovely campaigns, I’ll add them here.
A no-spice YA romantasy series full of music, humor, and adventure, with foiled covers, colored character art, and bonus content.
Forbidden magic. Dangerous attraction. A world unraveling at the seams.
Kate & Leopold meets Gilmore Girls but with dragons who love to bake, a whiskey-loving witch who buys an inn, and a spicy midlife tale.
